Moonlark’s Dinette - A Wonderful Addition to the Neighborhood
“Being a hotel restaurant lends itself to many different time zones. That is why we offer a range of distinct beverages and the same all-day menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner,” said Brett Luevanos-Elms, Service Director for Cabra LA and also Moonlark’s Dinette located on the first floor of the Hoxton hotel on Broadway north of 11th St. It is open daily from 7:30 am to 10:00 pm.
The vibe is all about “neighborhood casual” that offers comfort food. The menu has a full array of omelets, hotcakes, sandwiches, burgers, salads, soup, and mains. I have personally dined there four times since they opened in November of 2023. Hands down everyone that I have dined with loved the cozy ambiance, the friendly service, as well as the variety and tasty food.
Some of Brett’s favorite dishes include Brekkie Quesadilla, Monte Cristo (ham sandwich on French toast), Chilaquiles Verdes (my favorite too), and he claims the hashbrowns are “spectacular.” Did I mention that breakfast is served all day?!
Brett advised that Chef Chris Pandel brings in a “Midwest sensibility” to the menu and a “mid-century vibe” to the cocktail assortment. They offer a full selection of bar drinks including the standards, but also the exotic, including “build your own” Bloody Mary, Duck Season (look it up), and Invisible Sun. For fun they even offer Harvey Wallbangers!
What makes Moonlark’s so wonderful is that it can be enjoyed for many different occasions. Brett continued, “In a hotel, you can enjoy the beautiful space as a spot to pop into at any given time. You can go for a celebratory event or a casual setting such as a Tuesday night dinner.”
I am always seeking another casual nearby restaurant in South Park, especially one that is open for breakfast and lunch. I believe we are very fortunate to have Moonlark’s Dinette, another solid choice in addition to Pine & Crane!
