Arson Suspected in Fire of Danny’s Taco Truck on Grand
My wife and I were arriving back to our home in South Park on Tuesday, April 9, about 11:30 pm, when we found Grand Ave, between Olympic and 11th St closed due to fire trucks blocking the road. We subsequently found out that Danny’s Taco Truck was on fire. According to (KABC) -- “A taco truck in downtown Los Angeles was seriously damaged in a fire, and the owner suspects it was an act of arson.”
KABC reported that, “Responding firefighters quickly extinguished the flames. The owner of Danny's Tacos says a customer saw someone running from the truck after the fire started. Cellphone video shows a masked man with a gas can arguing with another person moments before the taco truck went up in flames.
Abel Antonio and several of his family members run the truck. He said that someone threatened them a couple of weeks ago. Antonio said his pregnant sister was running the truck at the time and is still shaken up. The LAPD and LAFD are investigating the incident. Nobody was hurt.
Newsflare captured the moment, posted a video that was taken a few weeks prior by a worker on the taco truck via cell phone video of the possible individual that set the taco truck on fire.
According to Newsflare, “Workers showed this video to a witness at the scene who positively identified the individual as the same one who started the fire on April 9th.”
Please contact LAPD Central if you can identify the individual in the attached video:
A few days after the fire, Danny’s Taco Truck is back on the street. Antonio's pregnant sister was back at work. She reported the suspect still has not been found and the truck is still having some issues.
