Embrace C.L.E.A.N. A Vision for a Greener and Cleaner DTLA

As Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA) undergoes a renaissance, we are at a pivotal point in shaping the future of our community. One crucial aspect that demands our attention is waste management in public spaces. The C.L.E.A.N. program (Conscious Living in Environmentally Aware Neighborhoods) emerges as an innovation and practical method.

C.L.E.A.N. waste collection is a conscious approach to efficient waste management on the streets, sidewalks, and public spaces. By prioritizing practicality, ergonomics, and design, C.L.E.A.N. seeks to revolutionize how we dispose of waste with better designed trash bins where trash cannot be accessed after it is deposited in the bin and  cannot be dumped on sidewalks and streets, making a significant impact on the cleanliness of our neighborhood.

The Fashion District has already set an example by implementing Big Bellied trash bins with a positive impact on their community. Areas like the Historic Core, Civic Center, Center City East, and South Park, still rely on outdated trash bins and could benefit from adopting the Fashion District's approach, leading to cleaner public spaces. Research shows improved waste collection enhances sanitation and overall community health.

Community investment in effective waste bins will be needed for the success of the C.L.E.A.N. program. LA Sanitation and Environment supports the effort but not funding. Businesses and residential buildings in DTLA generate a significant amount of waste, and by forming partnerships that financially support C.L.E.A.N. waste collection, we can foster a community of conscious interests. In return, businesses and residents will benefit from cleaner streets and neighborhoods, creating a positive cycle of mutual prosperity.

I urge residents and businesses alike to join forces in supporting the C.L.E.A.N. program. Together, we can identify trouble spots in waste collection across DTLA and provide access to better waste disposal methods. It is essential that we take proactive measures to ensure our city remains clean and vibrant.

Sign the petition here to show your support for a cleaner South Park. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the sanitation and well-being of Downtown Los Angeles.
