Immerse Yourself in Creative Experiences in South Park
Recently I met with the energetic, enthusiastic, and do-everything, entrepreneurial young woman, Rachel Adams. Rachel is the owner of 3 unique businesses at 1039 and 1041 S. Olive, north of 11th Street. After 75-minutes of listening and a short tour, WOW is what I said!!!
Horror Escape L.A. opened in 2016. While called an “escape room,” the objective is to solve puzzles in an immersive environment, escape the horrors that lurk, and save yourself from the mad scientist “Dr. X” and his live experiments. They have a beginner-level game that hosts 2-5 players, and 3 other games that host 4-10 captives. Times are available Wednesday to Sunday evenings with reservations made online. On Friday and Saturday, they offer live performers for select games. A wonderful 50-minute experience is designed for team building, communications, and personality learning. VIP parties before team-building events or birthday parties are available. Want a zombie? No problem. They work with local artists and performers who can play different characters.
HELA Comics is another business located in the Horror Escape LA lobby. Open weekdays, it is a great place to find your favorite comic books. Check online for the full catalog.
Finally, Ms. Adams’ latest venture is Immersive Art Collective (IAC). This non-profit empowers creatives through collaborative arts workshops, programs, performances, and event productions. It allows people to overcome lonely experiences, rejection, lack of confidence, and to collaborate and create through different art forms.
IAC offers theater troupes and workshops that write, design, produce, and act together. They work with emerging artists in dance, film, and art. IAC has outreach with Job Corps, LA Mission, youth group homes, The Help Center, and other social service organizations. They offer after-school theater programs and outreach to teens in residential or group homes which are free to social service organizations. Workshops for the local community are reasonably priced as donations.
Immersive Arts Collective relies on donations, creative circle groups, and community events to fund its programs. One such event is IMMORTAL Obscure Art Show being held on March 10th at 6 pm. You can also commission creative shows, themed weddings, and private events with their creative artists. Dinners are available for up to 20 people, and larger events on the outdoor patio space can accommodate another 60 people.
Rachel says, “Come to our shows and immerse yourself in the different worlds we create. Come play with us. Rent our space for private parties or commission us for one-of-a kind murder mystery parties and events.”
