Support Thy Neighborhood… Help support those who support us.

Why are we living in South Park? Reasons may include diversity, walkability, convenience, economic, lifestyle, and entertainment. Choosing where to live and where to spend most of our time is an important life decision. Just as residents choose where to spend their time, energy, and resources, businesses are faced with similar choices. Should they invest their talents, energy, and dollars in South Park?

Unfortunately, many South Park restaurants and other businesses have reduced their operating hours or have shuttered their stores completely due to a myriad of reasons. Fortunately, many are still here. And others believe in our community and are opening new local establishments.

I believe we should support the businesses operating in our neighborhood. Here is how you can support South Park.

The South Park Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 9-2 pm on Grand Ave between Olympic and 11th. This is a perfect way to support your community. Many merchants are offering their farm grown, tasty produce, fresh flowers, handmade crafts, and other delicious flavors. The presence of the market enhances our quality of living. Previous South Park residential surveys confirmed this was at the top of our wish list for our community. We can thank the South Park Business Improvement District (SPBID) for making it happen.

If we want the weekly market to flourish, we need to support it.  I strongly encourage each of us to make the effort to regularly walk the South Park Farmers Market. Maybe allocate a portion of your shopping budget to these caring individuals. Plus, this is the best place to see and visit with your neighbors.

A Taste of South Park is coming to South Park on Sept 23rd from 1-6 pm. Come support the 13 South Park restaurants and bars. In addition, support the businesses that are sponsoring the 2023 event. Business sponsors include The Capital Grille, Pine and Crane, MedBeautyLA, LaGree213, Throw Clay LA, Michael Robleto of Compass Realty, Kennedy & Wilson, South Park Business Improvement District, South Park Doggie Playland, Dignity Health California Hospital, Chase Bank, Bird Scooters. The list of restaurants is listed in a separate A Taste of South Park article.

There are many ways to support your neighborhood. Inviting friends to try something you enjoyed. Writing positive social media reviews. Trying new local establishments. You can be certain that the more we support the restaurants, bars, entertainment, and other South Park venues, the more the restaurants, bars and entertainment will open, expand, and renew their commitment to South Park. Great for all of us!

I look forward to seeing you around this wonderful neighborhood.
