Aprés-Ski Holiday Event Delivers Snow, Santa, Jolly Times
“I had a good time. I believe I made 3-4 new friends!” according to Hope & Flower resident, May, at the end of the Aprés-Ski Holiday event at HiDef Brewing on December 17. However, May was a bit disappointed that she did not win any of the incredible costume or raffle prizes such as 2 VIP tickets for Cali Vibe (compliments of AEG Presents), 4 tickets to Fiest: Multitudes Finale Tour (provided by The Belasco Theater), or a free Pottery Wheel Class (donated by Throw Clay). She and her friends did receive a stocking stuffer that included 50% off a meal at the art room, one complimentary class at Orangetheory, free appetizer at Lazy Dog Café, and a BOGO certificate for a drink at Bar Moxy.
Over 200 people signed up for the holiday event. Those in attendance enjoyed the yummy “after ski” menu of butternut squash and grilled cheese sandwiches, tacos, burgers, and salads served from the friendly folks at Rize Kitchen while snow spewed over the alley entrance (machine supplied by D Hollywood Agency). Our own John Nilsson was brave and kind enough to dress as Santa (sans the beard), and HiDef Brewing concocted a Holiday Beer Cocktail along with a holiday playlist.
At the request of Dignity Health California Hospital, bins were available for guests to donate unwrapped gifts for children in need. Seasonal decorations were organized by SPNA’s Aileen Coyle which added to the festivities. Some people played games like Sorry. Dee and Joan were both ecstatic to win top raffle prizes and Monica, Gilbert, and Julia took home best costume prizes. Teresa Y Hillery, candidate for LA City Council District 14, talked with neighbors and answered questions. Overall, conversations were stimulating and introductions to others in attendance were abundant. It was a jolly good time for all!
