Find Your Community at HiDef Brewing

People are consistently flocking to Downtown L.A. in search of various opportunities, yet as we get older, it becomes more difficult to make connections. I sat down with bartender Stephanie Gutierrez to talk about the diverse schedule of events that HiDef offers, aiming to bring the neighborhood and beyond together. There’s something for everyone.

Some events are part of their weekly lign-ups. On Monday’s HiDef is host to a cornhole league, organized by The Next Fun Thing. Aimed to adults wanting to meet people in a fun setting, you can join solo, or bring a group of friends. If you find yourself not ready for the weekend to end, this event is for you. The next league opens on July 24th and you can enroll >here< https://www.eventbrite.com/e/adult-cornhole-league-in-los-angeles-21-social-sports-league-tickets-663319676007

Tuesdays have a weekly comedy lineup from L.A. High Note. The show starts at 8 and you can buy tickets online for $10 or $15 at the door. I checked out last week’s show, one performer did her set with her two dogs on stage and had the tap room howling with laughter. The acts change weekly.

Wednesday’s allotment is Nintendo night. Players can bring their own controller or borrow one. The event starts at 7 where players are partnered up for Mario Kart until one player is left. After Mario Kart, they play super smash brothers, which can accommodate 8 players at a time. The winner gets free beer, of course.

HiDef also hosts a wide variety of other events such as frequent singles mixers and game nights. Their sip and paint events have been a big hit so far. Recent events also included a drag show and an LGBTQ Zine fest. You can also catch your favorite sports games on TV there.

One event you won’t want to miss is SPNA’s second annual “Meet Your Neighbors” Night, on August 1, from 6-9 pm. Along with HiDef’s award winning brews, there will be pizza from Pizza Sociale. Be sure to also catch the Sounds of South Park night on Thursday, July 13th.

The best way to find their schedule is through Instagram, @hidefbrewingdtla. Schedules are posted every Monday. I’ve made some really great friends at HiDef over the years and hope to see you there.
