Refresh Your Space with Lofty Gardens

As Downtowners, we’ve grown used to concrete sidewalks and cold building exteriors with maybe a patch of grass in sight. But alas - it was just AstroTurf. And for those of us transplants from parts of the country where we grew up surrounded by actual nature, this is the new normal. Try as we may to bring the Great Outdoors into our homes, sometimes we don’t know where to begin. Enter Lofty Gardens, a local business set on helping you create your own lush living environment. We caught up with business owner Bonnie to learn more.

SPNA: Tell us about your business!

B: Lofty Gardens is a company that curate’s green spaces in urban settings. We make aesthetic exterior landscapes, rooftops, patios, or balconies flourish by using "pleasing to the eye" color - green. Whether you like a relaxing green environment inside or prefer to have farm-to-table gardening outside we provide organic solutions that inspire and create a connection with nature.

SPNA: What inspired you to create Lofty Gardens?

B: Inspiration started young with my mother's love of interior plants, father's one acre garden and reforestation projects, grandmother's botany club, and my aunt's orchid society and greenhouse. Living 15 years in DTLA, I noticed a lack of green space and detachment from what humans all crave in this modern society - a connection with our planet and nature. So, I created a garden balcony! It actually FEELS like home now that I have green Lofty Gardens beauty out my window. During the pandemic, I started bringing the outside green to the inside with plants that I could incorporate in an interior environment. It quickly became a hobby turned into a passion business over the last 5 years.

SPNA: What is your favorite thing about what you do?

B: Meeting people and showing them how their spaces can be transformed. Most are concerned with keeping a plant alive. Likely, they have bought one or two over the years that have died. Ultimately growing plants is like an experiment all depending on the growing conditions. But just like us, they don't need much to survive: normal temperatures, water, sunshine, and nutrients. All easily provided in our urban environment in the right quantities.

SPNA: Where do we begin?

B: You can book a consultation, installation, or garden party by Instagram @loftygardens or call (213) 293-4947. Installation options range from exterior landscape grounds, balcony, rooftop, patio to interior lofts, business, and lobbies installations prices of $100 and up. We also offer herb gardens, pizza gardens, salsa gardens, and cocktail mixer gardens - all of which can be in vertical or horizontal containers pending area square footage and aesthetic look. Staging real estate and filming is provided with any desired look.

The more trees we plant and the more plants we have help bring a relaxing and calm environment to not only us but those around us. Let's do it together and create a green DTLA! Contact us to get started today!
