South Park Doggie Playland Walking Away from South Park
After nearly 15 amazing years’ operating their doggie play-care oasis just south of Pico Blvd. on Grand Ave., South Park Doggie Playland is moving out of their original South Park flagship where all the magic began. But fear not! The magic will live on. As of February 12th, Playland is consolidating with their Doggieland location at 147 W. 24th St. - just under a mile away. We caught up with business owner MJ Silva about their change of venue and exciting future plans.
SPNA: We’re sad to see you leave South Park! Tell us more about your new location.
MJ: Our new Playland location has been in the family for the past 2 years because it's been operating as Doggieland. This new location features 4 separate indoor theme parks and 2 outdoor spaces for our pups to enjoy! The greatest aspect of the new Playland is our pet parent lounge on the second floor that gives our Pawcademy parents a bird's eye view of all the action. We invite our clients to enjoy this space with comfortable seating, free WiFi access, and some light refreshments. Additionally, we've built out all-new grooming and training rooms in anticipation of an expansion of these two programs in the future.
SPNA: Will the same features of Playland be at your new location?
MJ: Absolutely! Our Pawcademy curriculum of classes and enrichment activities is the same across all our locations. This move will provide us with the ability to further expand our curriculum and offer a wider range of classes and activities! We're working on adding more levels to our core classes: Aquatic Adventures Swim Lessons, Dynamic Dog Agility Training, Canine Cognitive Challenge Puzzle Training, and Canine Communications Language Arts.
SPNA: Is there anything you’d like to share with South Park residents and your clients?
MJ: We truly love and appreciate our South Park Doggie families, especially at our flagship location where we began back in 2009! We want our clients to know that this was not an easy decision for us to make, but we know that the new Playland location will be the perfect place for their fur baby to grow and learn and play! We love our clients so much and want to make this transition as smooth and seamless as possible which is why we're offering complimentary shuttle service from the Grand Avenue location to the new location on 24th Street for at least the next 2 months beginning Monday, February 12 when we officially begin service at the new location.
SPNA: Anything exciting coming down the pipeline at the new Playland?
MJ: Our annual Puppy Love Festival will be on Saturday, February 17th from 3pm-6pm at the new location, and we're using this Paw Social as an opportunity to conduct a special open house welcome to the new location. Folks can RSVP for the event by visiting this link.
Even though Playland has been a wonderful neighborhood fixture for the past 15 years, it sounds like even bigger and better things are on the horizon at their new home base! At less than 10 minutes away, we’re certainly glad to still call them our neighbors. If you’re interested in even more fun for your pup, South Park Doggie has different themed locations around the city, including Waterland LAX and Adventureland South Bay.
