WE Helped Save the Earth

         SPNA (South Park Neighborhood Association) brought 250 South Park neighbors from 11 residential buildings together in Wishbone Park on Earth Day to celebrate the Earth, to learn more about what WE can do to help save the planet, and to grow a better neighborhood.

       We celebrated with sweet muffins and cold brew from Muffins Can Stop Us coming soon to 12th and Hope, natural wines from Good Clean Fun at Olive and 9th, Rosie’s vegetarian crepes, and free tangerines and apples from SPNA. We helped save the planet by recycling and composting during the event, buying plants from Bonnie’s Lofty Plants for our balcony to help clean the air, helping kids with plantings to take home, picking up a free sustainable grocery bag, and bringing our old/used electronics for recycling. Sierra Club was on-site to encourage us to do more for the planet. And we learned, from Waymo – electric self-driving ride-hail car – that their service will allow us to own fewer cars andstill get where we need to go, have a safer driving experience – no bad human behaviors, and reduce pollution that contributes to LA’s bad air quality days.

In addition, we built a sense of community by meeting our neighbors, enjoying time together, and sharing in the excitement of winning a raffle item – Brijesh very much enjoyed winning $500 in Bird Scooter credits and Alex, Dennis, Michael, and Bowen won $250 credits! South Park Doggie Playlandbrought joy to those winning gift cards. Bonnie contributed several plants and Good Clean Fun a nice bottle of wine.  

We celebrated, we learned, and we grew! Thanks to all who came to the Earth Day Spring Garden Party!
