Welcome New SPBID Board Members
Laura Wang and Jim Madsen were elected to the South Park Stakeholders Group Board, which operates the South Park Business Improvement District (SPBID), at its October 25 meeting. They will each serve a three-year term beginning January 1, 2024.
Laura Wang is a resident of Luma and the president of the Luma Homeowners Association. Laura is a Technology Project Manager at Munger, Tolles, Olson LLP. She is also active in the South Park Neighborhood Association (SPNA).
Jim Madsen is Vice President of Operations for AEG. Jim joined AEG in 2007 leading the transition of LA Live and Staples Center from construction to daily operations. Jim previously was at Universal Studios for 23 years.
Laura replaces Terry Rubinroit, community volunteer and resident of Evo, and Madsen replaces Lee Zeidman, president of AEG/Crypto.com both of whom completed two three-year terms and were ineligible for re-election. Both Rubinroit and Zeidman are South Park stalwarts. Terry attended nearly every South Park event and was an outspoken advocate for residents on the BID Board. Lee built LA Live and Crypto.com into the biggest entertainment complex in LA which is a major reason South Park developed into the leading residential area in downtown.
Re-elected to three-year terms were Alex Brideau, vice president, and Tom Shrout, secretary. Alex lives in Wren and has a leadership role in the first United Methodist Church. Tom lives in Luma and retired after a long career in transit advocacy and consulting.
