Vendor Spotlight South Park Farmers Market

The South Park Farmers Market provides a great opportunity to connect with local vendors and to support local businesses. In this month’s vendor spotlight, I aim to highlight two vendors at South Park’s Farmers Market, Californica and Radicle Roots.

I was enthusiastic about attending the South Park Farmers Market and venturing into the kaleidoscope of colors from the wide variety of produce, but I had a bit of a headache. Californica to the rescue! At a blue stand in the middle of the market, I learned that Californica specializes in easy-to-apply serums that relieve pain. Cheri, the local vendor, emphasized the instant pain relief that comes with utilizing her natural, anti-inflammatory, soothing oils. I was curious enough to try by rubbing a small dab of oil on my temples, and within one circle around the block, chatting with other vendors, and picking up my usual grocery haul of fresh veggies, my headache went away! I ran back to the Californica stand to immediately leave a delightful review and to obtain some of the magical elixir that she sells. Californica is one of the many vendors at the South Park Farmers Market that specializes in self-care.

As I walked throughout the rest of the South Park Farmers Market, I made one additional stop at Radicle Roots. Radicle Roots is a women-owned, urban farm, based in DTLA, that specializes in growing Microgreens. Microgreens are tiny, nutrient-dense leaves, that you can add to salads, sandwiches, and wraps. Not only do microgreens add some additional nutrition to your meals, but they also add a unique flavor. I recommend trying the spicy mix, a personal favorite special blend of microgreens, or a wheatgrass shot if you are interested in a boost of energy to get your weekend started.

Make it a self-care superfood-filled Saturday and get down to the South Park Farmers Market, hosted every Saturday from 9 am-2 pm on Grand between Olympic and 11th.
