AEG’s venerable parking lot at Grand Ave. and 11th Ave. (home of A Taste of South Park) may become a much-needed park space in the center of South Park according to a motion introduced on September 20 by 14th District Council Member Kevin de León.

One of our favorite street art exhibits is returning to South Park the evening of Saturday, October 5 from 7:00 to 11:30pm.   Noted as a “Pop-up Natural Wonder,” Luminex has presented its unique brand of visual video art using several blank walls of buildings in South Park as canvas twice in the last three years to the delight of residents and visitors of downtown Los Angeles.

Sade Elhawary, candidate for California State Assembly for the South Park area, attended the September 19 candidate event sponsored by DTLA RA (Downtown Los Angeles Residents Association) along with SPNA (South Park Neighborhood Association). Sade mingled and talked with the 100+ neighbors and presented her 5-minute speech to the group.

Saturday Yoga in the Park has ended for this season, but our fingers are crossed it will return in the Spring.

AEG started construction on Chick Hearn Court from Figueroa Street to Georgia Street on Thursday, September 19. This project will connect Peacock Place, a premier outdoor gathering space, with Crypto.com Arena. This portion of 11th Street will be permanently closed to traffic.

Exposition Park, one of the most historic and treasured places in Los Angeles located only three stops from the Pico E-line Metro Station, has received $325 million dollars for green space and underground parking along its south border bounded by Figueroa Street and MLK Blvd. 

A recent project between DTLA Alliance and CD14 included the lighting of 29 trees along 7thStreet between Figueroa and Hill Streets along with the restoration of streetlamps and lights. Let’s check out the project. You are invited!

I am always asked what is going on with the Oceanwide Plaza Project. As we all can see, the buildings remain dormant, and the graffiti is still prominent. At this writing, there appear to be positive signs for its future.
