    I am a graduate of Stop the Bleed training. I had not thought much about learning how to stop bleeding. But a couple of facts pushed me to the training offered by our neighborhood hospital, Dignity Health California Hospital Medical Center.

Third Thursday hosted by DTLA RA (Downtown Los Angeles Residents Association) will include a Back-to-School party at their July gathering to help student with school supplies.

   The Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council (DLANC) has an open seat to represent all of downtown – the At-Large Stakeholder seat. If you are interested in the growth of downtown, consider applying for this position.

Positive news on the sale of Oceanwide Plaza in South Park has been reported by Roger Vincent, staff writer for the Los Angeles Times.  After months of wrangling and arguments about the value of the bankrupt super development, the parties have evidently agreed to a listing price and have hired real estate brokers to sell the property.  This is the first good news we’ve had since the project went dark and work was stopped in 2019.

Lagree213 opens its South Park location later in June at 1201 S. Hope Street (corner of Hope and 12th in the Hope + Flower building).  It continues its reputation as a high-intensity, low-impact workout that leaves you “shaking, burning, and feeling stronger than ever.”

It’s the longest day of the year, the first day of summer, it’s the summer solstice! There is probably no better way to celebrate than with your neighbors in South Park at the highly unique, energetically upbeat venue of The Mayan (on Hill between 11th and Olympic).

Al fresco dining-drinking-food events and California weather are a perfect match. Who does not like enjoying the outdoors? California is ALL about outdoors! But there is trouble in paradise for some small businesses in downtown LA and South Park with the new al fresco city ordinance which goes into effect on July 31.

“Film, fashion, and flavor comes to Grand Hope Park (919 S. Grand) this summer.” DTLA Alliance and Street Food Cinema in partnership with ASU announce their summer movie nights in the park.

A pair of apartment towers at 11th Street and Olive Ave are proceeding with final planning as recently reported in Urbanize Los Angeles. Mack Real Estate Development, developer of Aven Towers on South Grand Ave., is the developer. The projects, which would rise from two existing parking lots, will add more than 1,200 living units to the South Park neighborhood.

Ben Lagree, co-owner of Lagree231, was recently appointed as a South Park Business representative on the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council (DLANC). Ben, and his wife Lisa, are opening their 3rd Lagree213 in the downtown area at 1201 S. Hope on the first floor of Hope and Flower. They also have a studio in the Historic Core and Arts District neighborhoods.

Didn’t get to score those court-side tickets you wanted? Luckily, you’re in the right neighborhood! Being right around the corner from the Staples Center (we refuse to conform to ‘Crypto.com Arena’), South Park has no shortage of sports bars. The newest addition to the assortment is 33 Taps.

The iconic Mayan Club and Theater, located on Hill between 11th and Olympic, is where I and other SPNA representatives had the immense delight of getting a personal tour.
