The First Annual Frost and Fir Holiday Market was held the evening of Friday, December 6 at Audio Graph Beer Company. 

Ysabel Jurado defeated incumbent Kevin de Leon for the (Council District 14 (CD 14) seat on the LA City Council in the November election with 57.17% of the votes. She was sworn in at a public ceremony on December 10. Ysabel is the first woman to hold the seat since CD 14 was established in 1925.

    South Park has five representatives on the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council (DLANC)– three resident positions and two business positions. All positions are up for re-election in April 2025. BUT filing for these positions begins at the end of December. Are you interested in applying to represent South Park?

 Nolan Marshall, South Park Business Improvement District (SPBID) Executive Director, announced at their annual meeting on November 14 that South Park will be rebranded as The Social District.

Sometime in early 2024 we heard of a movement among the powers that be to purchase the parking lot currently owned by AEG at the corner of 11th and Grand Avenue to turn it into a much-needed park for the neighborhood.  Most of our readers will recognize the parcel as the site of the last two A Taste of South Park neighborhood gatherings. Though somewhat small for a full-blown park, the lot has the potential of becoming a very nice little multiuse green space in a highly accessible area.

“Lifestyle changes your life” is the motto for a new store in South Park, 6IXTH SENSE LA on Olive between Pico and 14th street located next to the fire station and across from the Emerald residential building.

   Tuna wonton taco with acevichado sauce, avocado mousse, togarashi spice. Fried calamari with sweet chili sauce, smoked tartar, scallions. Cauliflower steak with miso, garlic chips, chimichurri. Chicken Causa with olives, avacaho, huancaina, chicken salad, charred cherry tomatoes.

The Kobe and Gina mural located in South Park is here because of West Coast Trial Lawyers (WCTL). The mural is on the south side of their headquarters at 1147 S. Hope (corner of Hope and 12thStreet). Even though WCTL operates in 17 locations in California and more in Nevada, they have become a part of South Park.

         Frost & Fir, a European-style Holiday Market will be held on Friday, December 6 from 6-10 pm at Audio Graph Beer Co’s outdoor space on Olive and 12th Streets. Admission is free. All are welcome!

In LA County, 66.04% of eligible voters cast a ballot in the November General Election. Of those voting, 72.06% voted by mail, 27.94% voted at Vote Centers.

 I grab my hat, keys, phone, and walk out the door.  I must walk, ride the train, walk again to West LA.  I am a volunteer transporter for Wags and Walks Dog Rescue. There are dogs waiting at the vet for me to pick up and return to the shelter before 3:00.
